Yes. The methodology is freely available under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0. Anyone can use, adapt, and build upon Octagem, with attribution.

Verra and Gold Standard are registries that certify carbon projects meet baseline standards. Octagem is a quality rating system that evaluates those certified projects—like how S&P rates corporate bonds. Think: Verra/Gold Standard = FDA approval, Octagem = Consumer Reports rating.

Currently self-funded. We are pursuing grants from climate foundations and potentially a consortium model where large carbon buyers collectively fund independent evaluation.

We welcome challenges. Submit evidence through our appeals process (see Framework Guide). We will publicly document all score revisions with reasoning.

Not yet, but it is on our roadmap. We are building a public database with API access for verified Octagem scores. Expected launch: Q3 2025.

We do not accept funding from project developers or carbon brokers. Scores are determined by a committee of 3+ evaluators with disclosed expertise. All methodology changes go through public comment periods.

Projects can request re-evaluation annually or when major changes occur (new monitoring tech, expanded permanence guarantees, etc.). We track score evolution over time.
